The capital city of Kerala is located on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland. Our national Father Mahathagandhi called it as the evergreen city of India. History

It has prideful history. Says that in 1036 BC, It has trade relation with other counties of sandalwood, Spices ad ivory. It's ancient history entirely different from other states of the Kerala. Ays and Venad were the rules of Thiruvanathapuram during ancient times.
The Rise of the Modern Thiruvanathapuram is happened from the time of ruler Marthandavarma. He came into rule in 1729 as named as the dynasty of Travancore. He set the Trivandrum as the capital of Travancore state; it was padmanabhapuram in Kanyakumari district. The beginning of the 20th century has made lot many changes in Thiruvanathapuram. In 1962 Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station established as the cradle of India's ambitious space programs. The Techno Park IT city contributed a lot to change the face of Thiruvanathapuram.

Geography

The city is located on the west coast of India. It shares the border with Thirunalveli District, Tamilnadu on the east side, Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu on the south side, The Arabian Sea on the west side and Kollam district on North side. The area covers 2192 km2. The main city of the district are Thiruvananthapuram , Neyyattinkara, Nedumangad, Attingal and Varkala. As per the census of 2001 populations are 3234356.

Economy

Previously the main occupations of the people were government services. 60 percentages of the work force were engaged in there. Now, the role is taken by the IT sector jobs. Media Industry also taking an important role in the economy. There are lots of television channels and studios to support the industry. The travel and tourism industry are increasing day by day. Agastyakoodam

It is a challenging place for trekking trips. It keeps around 1869 meter height from the sea level. It keeps 70 kilometer distance from the Trivandrum city. There are lots of abundant Ayurvedic herbs in the hill, even Neelakurinji. It is said that sage Agasthya lived there who was bachelor. So women's are not allowed to enter the place consider as the pilgrimage centre.
